My musical journey

I’m Ellen Creighton, founder of Music With Ease. I believe that games can be key to unlocking the fun of music lessons for students of all ages and I want to share my creations with your pupils too.

I have always loved music. I was lucky enough to be given a taste for live performances through much enjoyed trips to the ballet with my mum where I would crane my neck to see down into the orchestra pit. I distinctly remember being taken to see an interactive children’s performance of Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf and hearing the clarinet become the voice of the creeping cat as it stalks the bird.

When I was 12, I started learning the clarinet, choosing the instrument principally because I could remember which one it was! Despite this less-than-foolproof way to select an instrument, I am glad I made this somewhat arbitrary choice  as I love the clarinet’s timbre and its ability to fit into a wide variety of musical ensembles. I later learnt the saxophone and piano before gaining my BA in music from the University of East Anglia.

I started teaching the clarinet, saxophone and piano – always my dream as a teenager – after a post-university foray into journalism and some work in schools. Since then, I have been seeking and designing ways to ensure my students love their lessons and progress quickly. I started creating customized games for each of my students and they have all loved playing them.

Music With Ease is packed full of games for all ages so your students can have the fun of playing and learning without you having to spend hours preparing activities.
